What it's all about...

Welcome to my first Blog. I am currently in my first year studying Contemporary Textiles. The self discovery is intense and I no longer have time to procrastinate away. January has brought the most exciting aspect of the course, for me so far, Sculpture.
In my research I have looked at Pippolotti Rist, Francoise Sullivan and other inspirational artists. I have also drawn on my visit to London last year; there I was privileged to listen to Karl Holmqvist reading one of his pieces in Poetry Park and also, on that trip, was lucky enough to dip my toes in Ai Weiwei's Sunflower Seeds.
Here are a few links I have enjoyed watching over and over.

The first is Rist's Lullaby, the second is Ever is all over, the third is her speaking about her installation Pour your body out, the fourth that installation. The fifth link is Sullivan speaking about the day Danse dans la Neige was filmed and then the final link, which might not seem to fit, is about Eva Hesse' work Aught. 4:12 minutes in Hesse speaks about the impermanence of her work and it is for those moments I have share it, as I feel its audio gold.
So this might lead you to wonder, what on earth am I doing? Well the theme Intimate Immensity from Gaston Bachelard's  Poetics of Space, was set before us to contemplate and ruminate. I originally went down three routes but the dream world took over. Bed-sleep-dreams was where I felt my most intimately immense space was. So since that revelation I have been doing Impromptu Dream Drawings.
Here I will share with you the very first one. Filmed on the 12th of January, 2011.

More to follow. Come again!
